As the first semester of my year one nursing program comes to an end, I can’t help but wonder about my clinical experience in the upcoming semester. I must say that I am both nervous and excited about going to my first clinical. At this moment, I still feel that I am not yet prepared and ready for the ups and downs that I may experience during clinical. I feel that I don’t yet have a full understanding of myself. Everyone says that each individual has an ability that makes each one of them special, this is something that I am still searching in myself. I continue to ask myself what my special abilities are. What makes me different from everyone else? According to the some fourth year nursing students that I was given the chance to speak with, I was told that it is normal for a person to feel unsure about their first clinical and no one can really predict what to expect. I also was told that as I continue to progress in the nursing profession, I will eventually have great understanding of myself and be able to recognize my strengths and weaknesses.
Reflections are of great importance in the nursing profession. I am very appreciative of how the nursing program greatly emphasizes on the importance of reflection in the program. Reflections help people in better understanding themselves because by reflecting they are able to learn their strengths and weaknesses. In my opinion, nurses should be able to take the time to reflect on their own life experiences. When a nurse takes the time to reflect, he/she is able to learn from mistakes he/she made from past experiences, which would consecutively help him/her in making the right decisions when caring for patients in the future.
In my opinion, one of the main things that make the Jehovah’s Witnesses so unique is their refusal in accepting blood transfusion. Jehovah’s Witnesses base their beliefs according to the bible. They believe that the scriptures in the bible are God’s inspired words and commands. In the Bible, there are scriptures (such as Gen. 9:4, and Lev. 17:14) that emphasize on the importance of not accepting the blood of another, for the blood is like the soul of that person. Therefore whenever a member of the Jehovah’s Witness is seriously injured and needs a blood transfusion, that member rejects the blood transfusion even though they will die without it. This rationality makes me question whether the deaths of so many innocent people by the Jehovah’s Witnesses are truly the commands of God.

In general, technology has evolved and improved over the years. It is something that grows and changes as the years go by. In health care, technology has become very helpful in overcoming communication barriers. With the internet, telephones, and cell phones, it is easier for health care professionals not just only to communicate better with their patients but also with their peers. Health care professionals are able to easily collaborate on research and information discovered with their colleagues. In taking proper care of the patients, health care professionals are able to keep in contact with their patients. They are able to easily call their patients in for checkups.
Hello everyone, my name is Oyemwen but all my friends call me, Colette, a name given to me by my French uncle. So far, I have lived in Canada for about 5 years now, and I have noticed that Canada has become a very internet based community. People spend most of their time on the web; chatting and blogging with friends. It is for this reason that I have decided to become a blogger. To me, blogging is like a new exciting life experience. I want to be able to express all my first year nursing experiences on the web because I believe it is a very interesting way of sharing my thoughts and meeting people that have similar interests as me.
