Jehovah's Witnesses & Blood Transfusions

In my opinion, one of the main things that make the Jehovah’s Witnesses so unique is their refusal in accepting blood transfusion. Jehovah’s Witnesses base their beliefs according to the bible. They believe that the scriptures in the bible are God’s inspired words and commands. In the Bible, there are scriptures (such as Gen. 9:4, and Lev. 17:14) that emphasize on the importance of not accepting the blood of another, for the blood is like the soul of that person.
Therefore whenever a member of the Jehovah’s Witness is seriously injured and needs a blood transfusion, that member rejects the blood transfusion even though they will die without it. This rationality makes me question whether the deaths of so many innocent people by the Jehovah’s Witnesses are truly the commands of God.
